Mechanical Engineering & Installation

Mechanical installation and engineering for Ghanaian industry.

Equipment mounting, pipework, fluid power systems and commissioning support, the installations that turn a finished building into an operating facility.

A building is not a facility until the equipment inside it works. GIWU's mechanical team installs the systems that make industrial buildings productive: mounting and aligning production equipment, running pipework and fluid power systems, and supporting commissioning until the plant is genuinely operational.

Mechanical work is delivered within the same contract as the building where it makes sense to do so. That removes the handover gap between a completed structure and an operating facility, and avoids the familiar situation where the mechanical subcontractor arrives to find the building was not built for their equipment.

Alongside installation, GIWU's supply chain division sources the materials and specialist equipment these systems require: industrial pumps, V-belts and power transmission, and corrosion protection products including Denso tape.

Services

Mechanical services

Equipment mounting and alignment

Positioning, anchoring, levelling and aligning production and process equipment, including the foundation and plinth interfaces that keep it accurate under load and vibration.

Pipework and fluid systems

Process pipework, water and compressed air lines, supports, brackets, valves and testing, installed to the routing and specification agreed at design stage.

Fluid power systems

Hydraulic and pneumatic installations, including power packs, actuators, hose and fitting work, and pressure testing.

Ventilation and extraction

Ductwork, extraction hoods, fans and air handling for production environments where heat, dust or fumes have to be controlled.

Commissioning support

Pre-commissioning checks, flushing, pressure testing, run-up and performance verification, with documentation handed over at completion.

Maintenance and technical support

Preventative maintenance, servicing and diagnostics to keep assets running after handover.

Supply Chain

Equipment and materials we supply

GIWU combines mechanical installation with procurement, so the equipment being installed and the materials it needs arrive as one coordinated package.

  • Industrial pumps: supply to specification for process, water and transfer duties.
  • V-belts and power transmission: belts, pulleys, couplings and drive components.
  • Denso tape and corrosion protection: protection systems for pipework, flanges and buried or exposed steel.
  • Construction equipment and materials: sourced through GIWU's vendor network.

Working Practice

Installation inside a live facility

Many mechanical installations happen in buildings that are already operating. Shutting production down for the duration is rarely acceptable, so the work is planned around the operation rather than the other way round.

  • Isolation and permit-to-work discipline agreed with your site team before work starts.
  • Phased installation so production continues in unaffected areas.
  • Out-of-hours working where shutdown windows are limited.
  • Testing and handover completed before the system is put back into service.

GIWU operates a zero-harm safety culture with formal HSEQ management across every project phase. See our HSEQ framework.

Track Record

Mechanical work delivered

  • ARG1 Africa: mechanical and structural works including airport infrastructure.
  • Delovely Ltd: industrial structure with mechanical provisions.
  • Warehouse clients: mechanical installations forming part of complete warehouse delivery.
  • Manufacturing and processing clients: equipment mounting, pipework and commissioning support.

How We Work

From enquiry to handover

  1. 01

    Scope & site review

We take the brief, drawings or a one-line description and confirm buildability, access, ground conditions and programme.

  2. 02

    Design coordination

Engineering, fabrication and construction input is coordinated in-house, so the drawings match what can actually be built.

  3. 03

    Procurement

Materials and specialist equipment are sourced through our own supply chain, removing the vendor delays that stall most projects.

  4. 04

    Fabrication

Steel and modular components are produced to specification in the workshop while site works run in parallel.

  5. 05

    Construction & installation

Certified teams erect, install and fit out under a single point of site accountability.

  6. 06

    Commissioning & handover

Systems are tested, snagged and handed over with documentation and maintenance guidance.

Questions

Frequently asked questions

Do you install equipment supplied by others?

Yes. We regularly install client-supplied or vendor-supplied equipment, and can also source the equipment ourselves through our supply chain division if you prefer a single package.

Can you work while our facility keeps running?

Yes. We plan phased installations around your operation, agree isolation and permit-to-work arrangements with your team, and can work outside normal hours where shutdown windows are tight.

Do you handle commissioning?

Yes, commissioning support is part of the service: pre-commissioning checks, flushing, pressure testing, run-up and performance verification, with documentation handed over at completion.

Do you supply spare parts and consumables?

Through our supply chain division we supply industrial pumps, V-belts and power transmission components, and Denso corrosion protection products, alongside wider construction materials and equipment.

Do you provide maintenance after handover?

Yes. Preventative maintenance, equipment servicing, technical diagnostics and ongoing support are available to keep assets running.

Fitting out an operating facility?

Send the equipment list, services required and site details. GIWU will confirm the mechanical scope and commissioning plan.
